The HR time – dedication to work http://latontiniere.com/?p=9863&lang=en&utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-hr-time-dedication-to-work http://latontiniere.com/?p=9863&lang=en#respond Wed, 28 Sep 2022 16:51:19 +0000 http://latontiniere.com/?p=9863 What is dedication to work ?

To give a clear and precise answer to this notion, let’s start by analyzing some of the received ideas.

Dedication is not satisfaction – Satisfaction is the positive evaluation made by an employee on the quality of work. One can be satisfied with the quality of life at work without being dedicated to the company.

Being happy at work is not being devoted – An employee can be happy at work without being dedicated. He/she may enjoy some benefits and advantages related to the quality of life without feeling happy in the execution of his/her daily tasks.

Dedication to work is the feeling of belonging, attachment and loyalty of an individual to his company. It is related to the psychological relationship between the employee and the organization. It is the degree of involvement of the employee in supporting the company in achieving its objectives. Many of our employees at LTN Cameroon are dedicated to their work and need to maintain or increase their level of dedication. Others, by contrast, may sometimes get carried away by discouragement or demotivation and therefore need to work on their level of devotion at work.

How to be an engaged employee?

Being a dedicated employee means giving something of yourself. The employee hired at LTN is therefore the one who:

  • Is loyal to our company
  • Is able to share the common values of LTN Cameroon: IPEER;
  • Exceeds its limits and constantly works harder;
  • Actively participates in activities organized by the company;
  • Desires to maintain its membership in LTN Cameroon;
  • Respects the rules of our institution;

How to build employee dedication?

To promote employee engagement, LTN Cameroon is actively engaged in:

  • Take care of the well-being of your employees
  • Implementing effective communication actions
  • Establish a spirit of constructive criticism: we encourage feedback
  • Create a healthy and positive teamwork environment
  • Define individual missions and clear objectives for employees
  • Recognize, appreciate and congratulate employee performance
  • Organize team unity activities.

The dedication of each of us will have a positive effect on the performance of LTN Cameroon through higher productivity, improve staff retention and customer relations. Let us therefore be dedicated employees at work to ensure the continuity of our great and beautiful institution whose daily construction depends on each of us.

A tribute to a microfinance legend – to NICOLAS ROFÉ http://latontiniere.com/?p=9860&lang=en&utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=a-tribute-to-a-microfinance-legend-to-nicolas-rofe http://latontiniere.com/?p=9860&lang=en#respond Mon, 26 Sep 2022 17:17:10 +0000 http://latontiniere.com/?p=9860 For a whole generation of actors who discovered microfinance in the 1990’s, Nicolas Rofé was forerunner, with 15 years ahead on the rest of the sector in Francophone Africa. He passed away in September 2014 after a long illness, after a life worthy of a novel. In Microfinance, it will be remembered that he turned a Very Small Enterprise – Small and Medium Enterprise (VSE-SME) credit project into a failure, which he took over the management in 1988-1990, in one of the most successful microfinance projects in the WAEMU countries: LTN Senegal.

I remember the first studies that I have done with AFD and CGAP in 1998-1999: many of us were impressed with both the ability of LTN Senegal (and its “clones”) to generate healthy individual credit and balance the accounts in a few years, while managing without difficulty the withdrawal of the permanent technical assistant. In the jungle of projects and more or less professional networks that crowded the sector at the time, it was a small revolution. Nicolas Rofé’s desire to track down unnecessary costs and the “functionalization” of agents[5] was also, where so many others wallow in the comfort of subsidies…  microfinance at the service of business financing and in the image of many entrepreneurs: rough and without unnecessary grease.

Loan agencies for private enterprise (LTN) that he created later in Madagascar, Cameroon, and recently in Burkina Faso and Niger, are all testimonies of his work. His achievement will continue with structures provided and people that he trained.

Nicolas ROFÉ and Pancho OTERO probably share the characteristic of being much more in their element in a Latin American or African market, among their natural «customers», than in international conferences. Nicolas ROFÉ didn’t want to be the « boss » of a holding company, managing his subsidiary companies with an eye on economic and financial dashboards. At the time where microfinance seems to become financialized, or even to take the path of disintermediation, and where the development of new technological tools sometimes makes it possible to accelerate the examination of the loan file (through information provided by the loan offices, even to the notes of rating systems or « credit scoring »), it is not useless to remind one of the key learning of LTN, namely the importance given to the human factor and the perfect knowledge of, de visu and in situ, of each customer and his company by the loan office.

Allow me to pay them this tribute. Extract from «Guide to Microfinance Regulation … and Financial Inclusion», Laurent Lhériau, Third edition, coordinated by Eneida Del Hierro, AFD.

Succeed in saving and realize your project in Cameroon http://latontiniere.com/?p=9808&lang=en&utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=succeed-in-saving-and-realize-your-project-in-cameroon http://latontiniere.com/?p=9808&lang=en#respond Fri, 02 Sep 2022 07:15:05 +0000 http://latontiniere.com/?p=9808 You dream to open your restaurant in two years but you don’t know how to make your dream comes true by saving? You will like to open your hair salon but you don’t know how to keep some money for it. Read this article.

In terms of savings, all is about objective, specific project. Your project can be the purchase of your taxi to no longer depend on someone. Opening your store etc. No matter what your project is, it will require investment and therefore saving. It is proved that most of the people who have saving in addition of loan as financial income source of their personal  projects  have more chance to succeed (Josh Martin, David Myhre, Nisha Singh, 2013. ”saving as the cornerstone: set the basis of financial inclusion”).

In fact, saving is the start point of the financial life of an investor. It must be part of his/her financial lifestyle. However, many believe that in spite of their problems, challenges of daily life and economic context in Cameroon in particular and in Africa in general, it is impossible to save.

Though, a good saving strategy is essential to ensure the sustainability of his/her current and future living standard and therefore realize his entrepreneurship project.  That’s what this article is all about whose objective is to present you the tips to succeed in your savings project despite many challenges of daily life.

How to succeed in saving and realize your entrepreneurship project despite of the financial difficulties in our Cameroonian context?

Saving is good, know how to do it is better. Before any savings action, it is important to examine your financial situation, your income status, but also your debts in order to determine the duration and the type of saving to realize according to your project. Once this analysis is done, implement your savings projects by respecting the following steps:

  • Define your project start-up budget  : it’s to determine the minimum amount of money you will need to launch your project ;
  • Evaluate your savings ability: it’s depending on your project to define a monthly savings amount of money. That is the amount of money which you could save every month after you have paid all your monthly charges (rent, nutrition, electricity etc);
  • Set the duration of your savings project : determine a deadline to achieve your savings objectives. This deadline is generally function of your project’s start-up budget. It can be 6 months, 1 year, 2 years etc depending on the project that you want to realize and your need. For example, if you save 10 000 Fcfa each month for a project of 200 000 Fcfa, You will realize your project after 20 months of saving equals to 1 year and 8 months.

It is important to keep in mind that time flies when you start your saving project. So, don’t look at the time when you want to save. Get started.

Now that you have all the keys in your hand to start your savings project, don’t wait any longer, start now. The LTN Cameroon’s savings account for example is a secure way for you to get started.
